God gave the church the mission to go make disciples AND teach them to observe Jesus' commands. That is why we focus on both sharing God's love and the gospel within our community (living missionally) as well as training Jesus followers to strengthen and grow in their faith (living transformationally). Every member of the church is given spiritual gifts so that they can join together to fulfill this call to live relationally, transformationally, and missionally. We encourage each of our members to pray and consider how they can be involved.
How we live out our mission
serve in the church
We have many ways to get involved in serving at BBC. If you are new or unsure of how you can be involved, please ask about a jump-in opportunity or attend our Foundations class. A jump-in opportunity is a chance to visit a ministry to see what is involved, have a chance to ask questions, and gain on-the-ground experience before committing. The majority of our ministries have serving opportunities for teens and adults.
Serving Opportunities
- Worship Team - Help lead worship on Sunday mornings. Serve as a singer, band member, or special instrument (ie. horn or string instrument)
- Tech Team - Make our service look and sound amazing. Serve as an audio, lighting, or video technician.
- First Impressions Team - Help our visitors and attendees feel welcomed and secure. Serve as a greeter, or an usher.
- Kids Ministry Team - Inspire kids to grow in Christ. Serve in the nursery (0-3 years), kids church (4 years-4th grade), or Wednesday kids program.
- Youth Ministry Team - Impact the next generation. Serve in InTransit (5th-6th grade) or FUSION (7th-12th grade).
- Behind-the-Scenes - Serve in a quiet, but still very important way by helping behind-the-scenes. Help out with maintenance, grounds keeping, or in the church office.
Serve in the community
Although we encourage all of you to constantly be looking for ways to serve in your community, we have several specific ways that we as a church strive to reach the community surrounding our campus.
Serving Opportunities
- The Community Classroom - We seek to serve two groups in our community through The Community Classroom by offering educational services to them free of charge. We offer English as a Second Language classes for adults and after school tutoring for elementary-aged children who live in or near Shiremanstown. Learn more
- Outreach Events - We have several big outreach events each year. These events vary from year to year depending on the needs of our community. In 2020, we had a clothing give-away and a kids summer learning program.
