We Fight a War We Cannot See—But We Are Not Alone
Spiritual warfare is more prevalent than we are normally aware of.
Our world tries to explain everything through science, reducing reality to what we can observe with our five senses. And hearing this message every day—through media, education, and daily interactions—can easily desensitize us to the truth: there is a battle raging around us over our souls, a war that goes unseen.
But even when we become aware of this battle, let us not turn our attention toward the Devil, his army, or his activity in a way that leads us back into fear. Instead, let’s remember the powerful encouragement in Romans 8:15:
“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’” — Romans 8:15
When the war rages—when “the earth gives way,” “the waters roar,” and “the mountains tremble” (Psalm 46)—we can rest assured that the Holy Spirit within us bears witness that we are God’s beloved children.
And if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.
That truth steadies us in the unseen battle. We don’t fight alone, and we don’t fight in fear. We fight from a place of victory, sealed by the Spirit and held in the hands of our Father.
